    Dear TLQP Friends:

Please join us for our  May 13 TLQP  Workshop at Binghamton University as we continue our discussion of number talks.

As you  all know, mathematically powerful classrooms support students in sense-making— that is,  exploring, conjecturing and building on other ideas both individually and collectively. “Number Talks” are a means of making such exciting and productive mathematical discussions take place in your classroom.  In our last workshop, we  talked about strategies for subtraction and multiplication. This time, we focus on strategies for addition and division for whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. One of our related investigations aims to help students discover why the “invert and multiply” rule is valid.

Come, share some professional time with your colleagues, and find out more about this effective and engaging teaching strategy.

We will provide brunch, lunch, free parking, and some great number talk! This invitation is open to all our TLQP friends in both cohorts: please do come.
