Dear TLQP Friends:

Please join us for our

October 21  • TLQP Workshop at Binghamton University

 as we launch our year!

Dr. Sweeney has a rich and full year planned for us.

  • First, he will lead us in continuing the work we did last year with Jo Boaler’s Mathematical Mindsets, beginning with a review of  the online course she gave in the summer 2017.
  • In addition to incorporating Boaler’s techniques in our instruction, we will focus on NCTM’s Principles to Action, a book that will be provided to TLQP participants who attend consistently. The first part of the volume specifies eight mathematical teaching practices that are crucial for successful instruction. The second half focuses on the essential elements for Mathematics Teaching Practices to be effective.
  • Along with these two themes, we will also work with the book: Good Questions: Great Ways to Differentiate Mathematics Instruction. We will also distribute this book to consistent participants. This book is especially helpful because it gives many examples of the two types of questions the book suggests using: open-ended and parallel tasks.

And some surprises await you!

So come, share some professional time with your colleagues, and start your TLQP year off right. This invitation is open to all our TLQP friends in both cohorts: please do come.
